Definition

A player who prefers a very tight style. He takes part in a hand only when he is almost certain he will win. For example, a nit will raise preflop only with QQ, KK, AA and perhaps AKs. If such a player does not hold a premium hand, he prefers to enter the hand by calling, or folds. A nit can be identified by a low VPIP (the percentage of hands in which the player voluntarily puts money in the pot to see the flop).
