Definition
A term for early position at the poker table (Under the Gun). At a full table (9-max) there are three players in early position, labelled UTG-1, UTG-2 and UTG-3. At a short-handed table (6-max) there is only one early position, UTG, which comes right after the big blind. UTG is considered a disadvantageous position because the player has to act first, or among the first, without knowing what the other players in the hand will do.
