Definition
A purchase of additional chips in certain types of tournaments that can be made with any stack size at a strictly defined time. Unlike a rebuy, an add-on is usually allowed only once per tournament. It costs the same as the buy-in, but gives more chips than the starting stack for the same money. For example, in a tournament with a $50 buy-in the starting stack is 2,000 chips; by taking the add-on and paying another $50, you can get an extra 3,000 chips.
