Definition
A situation where a poker player has no made hand at all. When people say a player was playing air, they mean he had nothing. Players usually stay in a hand with air in only two cases: the opponents don’t raise and the player can check, or the player is trying to win the pot with a bluff. For example, the hand 7c 8c on a 6s Td Ks 2h board turns into air after the 3c lands on the river, because on such a board it will almost certainly be the weakest hand.
