Definition
The display of the most aggression by one poker player compared with the other players in the hand. The initiative belongs to the player who made the last aggressive action (bet or raise) in the previous betting round; such a player is said to have the initiative. A continuation bet (c-bet) on the flop after preflop aggression is a clear example of initiative.
