Freezeout

Definition

The standard tournament format in which a player who loses all their chips is eliminated, with no option to buy another stack. Most tournaments are held in this format, including the biggest events – WSOP, EPT, SCOOP and others. Because losing your stack in a freezeout means elimination from the tournament, many players play more carefully and cautiously, not risking their chips needlessly.
