Discounted Outs

Definition

All of a player’s outs except the cards that won’t make his hand the best or that will simultaneously improve the opponent’s hand to the best one. For example, Hero holds 2c 3c and the flop comes 4h 5h Kd. Hero has a straight draw that turns into a straight if an A or a 6 falls on the turn, so he has 8 outs. However, if the opponent holds a hand like Qh Jh, the 6h and the Ah will make the opponent’s hand the best. So only 6 discounted outs remain.
