Definition
A period during which a poker player loses because of bad luck. Such “losing streaks” happen in poker because of the influence of variance on results. During a downswing the player rarely gets good cards, and when a strong hand does come, it either loses or wins very little. A prolonged downswing is one of the most common causes of tilt.
