Monotone Board

Definition

A board texture on which relatively strong hands, such as top pair, lose their potential to become winning hands. For example, an Ah Kh 9h board is much less favorable for the holder of an ace than an Ah Ks 9d flop, because of the high probability of a flush. In addition, such a texture is unfavorable for chasing a flush draw, since the opponent can read such a hand quite easily.
