Definition
Any card in the deck that will improve a player’s hand to a winning one. For example, if a player holds 5h 6d and the board is 7d 8c Ks, they have 8 outs (four fours and four nines) to make a straight. Knowing how many outs you have is the key factor in assessing the strength of your hand and making further decisions.
