Overpair

Definition

A pocket pair made of cards ranked higher than the highest card on the board. An overpair is considered a very strong hand, since opponents without a made pocket hand cannot make a higher pair on such a board. In addition, an overpair is hard to put someone on, which allows the hand to be played as profitably as possible. An example of an overpair: hand QQ, flop 3 5 T – the two queens are higher than the highest card on the board (the ten), so this hand is an overpair.
