Out of Position

Definition

A term for a player who, in the current betting round, is in an earlier position than their opponent, i.e. has to make a decision first. Postflop, the small blind, or the first remaining player to the left of the small blind, plays out of position. Being out of position is a disadvantage because the player acts first, without knowing what the opponent will do.
