Definition
A poker action in which a player out of position checks and then calls after the opponent bets. Check/call is considered a weak line, because with a strong hand the player should have bet themselves. Nevertheless, in some situations this action is quite justified. For example, when slowplaying strong hands, a check/call can induce the opponent to keep betting. A check/call is also reasonable if the bet was too small relative to the pot and the pot odds are good enough to call.
