Chip Leader

Definition

The player with the biggest stack at the table in cash games or tournaments. The term is most often used for the player with the most chips in a tournament, since it is in tournament poker that a big stack gives its owner an advantage. In the late stages of a tournament, the chip leader can “pressure” opponents with smaller stacks, taking down pots before showdown.
