Continuation Bet

Definition

The first bet in the current betting round by the player who was the aggressor on the previous street, also called a c-bet or conbet. For example, preflop Hero raises from the button, the small blind folds and the big blind calls. On the flop the BB checks and Hero bets. In this case Hero is said to have made a continuation bet, or c-bet. By betting preflop, the player signals that he has a strong starting hand. By betting again on the flop, he shows that his hand has become even stronger. That’s why a continuation bet is a very promising move that can be used even on a flop that misses your hand.
