Definition
A poker position to the right of the dealer button. A player in the cutoff has the second-best position at the table, behind only the button. Literally, “cut-off” means “to cut off”; in poker, this cutting off refers to isolating opponents. From the cutoff it is very convenient to isolate players from early positions and put pressure on the small and big blinds. That’s why the cutoff is an excellent position for stealing the blinds.
