Re-Raise

Definition

Another increase of the bet after a previous player has already raised. A re-raise is also often called a 3-bet, because it is the third bet in the current betting round. For example, preflop Player 1 in UTG adds another $10 to a $15 pot, Player 2 in UTG1 calls, and Player 3 in the CO raises by $25. Player 3’s bet is the re-raise: the first bet is the big blind, the second is Player 1’s bet, and the third is Player 3’s, since Player 2 did not raise but only called.
