A raise in response to an opponent’s steal. The purpose of this bet is to defend the blinds against attempts to steal them from late positions. Opponents will often try to steal the blinds from the cutoff and the button, hoping to take the pot preflop. To defend against this, the small and big blinds can re-steal by raising again. To re-steal effectively you need to take many factors into account: stack ratios, raise size, the opponent’s stats, etc.
