Definition
A card on the turn or river that could potentially improve an opponent’s hand. For example, if Hero holds Jd 8s and the flop is 4c 7h Js, then the Ac on the turn is a scare card for Hero. The point is that Hero’s top pair on the flop is no longer top pair by the turn, and an ace may well be in the opponent’s range, giving them a better hand.
