Definition

A preflop raise by a player in late position aimed at winning a pot made up of the small and big blinds. The main condition for this move is that none of the previous players has voluntarily put money into the pot. A successful steal doesn’t always require a suitable hand: against some opponents you can raise with any two cards and often take the pot without resistance.
