Squeeze

Definition

A preflop play in which a player makes a big re-raise after a raise and at least one call from the previous players. The aim of this play is to force the opponents to fold and take the pot preflop. A squeeze creates excellent conditions for this, because the raiser faces a tough decision with at least two more players still to act behind them. The players who called are also in an awkward spot: their hands may not be strong enough to call a big bet again, otherwise they would have re-raised themselves.
